The Conax Quality Difference
The name Conax is synonymous with quality.
Conax pioneered the soft sealant technology found in our compression seal fittings. Our compression seals are the finest in the world.
Only Conax seals offer:
- Soft Sealant Technology
- A Remarkably Secure Seal
- Easy Installation, Adjustment & Replacement of Elements
- Field Rebuildability
Soft Sealant Technology
With soft sealant technology, the continuous tension in the torqued body acts likes a spring to maintain compression on the sealant and maintain a positive seal throughout the temperature cycle.
Soft sealant technology allows replacement and adjustment of the sealed element. This is not possible with other technologies such as epoxy and glass-to-metal sealing.
Remarkably Secure Seal
Conax mechanical compression seal fittings, unlike compound fittings, do not allow leakage to occur. Conax uses mechanical fittings with internal sealant material that is compressed for a completely tight fit.
How a Compression Seal Works
- The element to be sealed passes through the holes in the sealing assembly components.
- When the cap is torqued to the recommended value, the torque on the cap translates an axial force on the follower.
- This force compresses the sealant contained with the body housing so that the sealant conforms to the element, creating a seal.
- The tension in the torqued body acts as a spring to maintain compression on the element.
- The static friction force between the sealant and the element restrains the element from moving under pressure.

Easy Installation, Adjustment & Replacement of Elements
With Conax’s easy assembly instructions or video (see Compression Seal Fitting video), Conax compression seal fittings are easily installed by the customer. Conax compression seal fittings provide for unparalleled field adjustability. Conax compression seal fittings can be loosened, adjusted, retightened and replaced to meet customer needs.
Field Rebuildability
Conax compression seal fittings can be retrofitted to accommodate additional requirements. Need more circuits? With Conax compression seal fittings, you can simply loosen the gland and replace the internal parts (contained in the replacement packing set). This allows you to add (or subtract) additional wires and/or probes.
Connecting with the People Behind Our Quality
Robert Fox
President
“Conax’s Quality Difference Lies in the Human Element”
Conax’s quality difference has always been the human element. We are a company of talented individuals dedicated to providing our customers solutions that allow them to be more successful. We listen and then deliver. We are constantly trying to “add value” to every relationship that we have. We are a company of important relationships. We measure that quality in our customer’s satisfaction with us.
Michael Valachos
Director of Sales and Marketing
Conax has over 50 years of experience in dealing with specific industries/markets like power generation, oil & gas and semiconductor. Our knowledge of these various markets and/or industries has allowed us to provide solutions to meet the demands of the customer. We make sure that we understand what our customers need for their specific application. This knowledge and understanding helps us determine what our customers need in terms of our products to allow them to be efficient and successful.

“Our Quality is Unsurpassed”
Conax is the only company that does what we do. Only Conax has our product line breadth and depth, design, manufacturing and test capability.
Conax offers vast experience. Over our long history, our engineers have solved virtually every pressure and vacuum sealing application there is; whether it be on land, in space, underwater, underground, or in the air. Solutions have also been found for test, development and manufacturing situations in every industry imaginable! All it takes is one phone call to our technical staff, to receive a quick and effective solution.
Our quality is unsurpassed! We often build a “Cadillac” to meet the most demanding applications and offer it as a standard product. We specially design, test and manufacture products to perform in certain specific areas far in excess of catalog specifications.
Many times an engineer will call us, and by the time he hangs up the phone, he has an email containing a detailed solution to his exact problem. Often times he has looked and looked, finding nothing that will work, thinking that no solution exists, and planning to struggle with his search for hours and hours with catalogs and websites. Instead, once he calls Conax, he gets a solution in a short period of time that can be delivered in days or weeks, not months. This puts long, tedious research on the part of the customer to an end.

“The People and the Conax Infrastructure is what Makes the Product Better Than any other on the Market”
Conax quality lies not only in terms of our products, but within the entire company infrastructure that supports the product. For example, the product is made from raw materials that we have specified. We have our own machine shop, not machining farmed out to the lowest bidder. We assemble and test in our one shop. Our teams are made up of dedicated people serving the customer personally to design, project and manufacturing engineers. The people and the Conax infrastructure are what make the product better than any other on the market. This is what separates us from the competition.

“Quality is the Conax Standard”
Conax products, whether standard or custom, include quality in-house calibration, material traceability and product testing. We are equipped with in-house testing capabilities including pneumatic & hydrostatic pressure testing, helium leak rate testing, and calibration.
Every product is supported by our technical team of degreed engineers who have extensive years of experience with our products.
All products meet ISO 9001:2000 standard and have an on-time delivery rate.
Conax is the originator of the multiple element soft sealant compression gland. Compression seal fittings are available in NACE and CRN.
ISO is the International Organization of Standardization. It assures customers that the company has a good Quality Management System in place. This means that customer expectations will be better met. Companies who have this standard tend to have better operations, improved performance and improved profitability.
